Many cultures--ancient and present have written: In Nigeria, West Africa, there is a culture and people known as Yoruba. Ori is a highly important spiritual concept among them. The word Ori, literally means "head." It is how one percieves spiritual experiences and how a person’s destiny is laid out; as well as the path that one takes to fulfull that destiny. “Ori” is also a given name, which means, “My Light” in Hebrew. It is simuliar to the Yoruba definition, which expresses that which resides in the core of all beings’ consciousness and the manifestation of All of the Universe- within. It is understood In Yoruba tradition, that human beings are able to heal themselves both spiritually and physically by working with the Orishas (personifications of the powers of Life that are available here on earth; but need to be acknowledged and respected). When one is healed, one is balanced and in harmony with All.
